Want Harder & Longer Lasting Wood? Eat More Plants!

Yeah I’m not talking actual wood here, I’m talking about your ramrod here gentlemen. Sorry but not sorry, and no not embarrassed to be writing about this either. Going around and hearing conversations really from both sexes – about their intimate encounter with whomever they were with seems to go one of two ways. From the male perspective it’s wanting to please their partner so it’s how “hard” they can get and how long they can last. From the female perspective it’s how long you can go and how hard you can get. Yes, yes being a bit more mature than the teens, 20s, and 30 something year olds – there’s more to it than the physicality of the act but also the connection between two people, but I don’t operate a dating site or romance advice column here. 😉

But this post is about you men and your beloved broner. So listen up! For it definitely benefits you gents, and in return it definitely benefits us ladies! (wink, wink)

So let me share a possible scenario here. (And again I know everyone is different and that this may not be anything close to you or someone else you may know. However, sadly I have seen it more and more in younger men and not just in men 50 years and up.) A 35 year old male who weighed 340+ lbs. sitting at a fast food restaurant eating a double cheeseburger with extra bacon and a large order of fries along with drinking a large coke and large chocolate milkshake. To walk from his car to the counter to order and back to his car after eating winded him. He broke out in a heavy sweat for just a little exertion. He was sad, depressed, and lonely. Low self-esteem and worried because at his age he was experiencing low libido and has been having more issues with erectile dysfunction. Convincing himself that he would never make any lady happy for he could not perform………………….. this type of situation unfortunately happens more than not. But as a health coach I know that better nutrition and more regular physical exercise can help improve self-esteem, physical appearance, energy levels, and you got it – improved performance in the bedroom.

There is a very close link between love, sex, and food. The human need for food and sex is simple, it’s a part of the foundation of being human, which makes sense why they are so closely intertwined. Libido naturally diminishes when the body is lacking in minerals and vitamins , and it must focus on self-preservation over procreation. Insufficient nutrient intake can create depression, fatigue, and low energy levels that can hinder anyone’s sexual drive. Fortunately, Mother nature has given us plenty of foods that can help amplify our libidos and energy levels.

Now quoting Leslie Bonci, M.P.H., R.D., director of sports nutrition at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center from Men’s Journal online she states this quite well: “The occasional food splurge won’t destroy your mojo overnight, but consuming too many of the worst nutritional offenders is likely to sap your function sooner or later.” Well fellas she’d be exactly right. With one of the biggest culprits in cramping your “porkin'” capabilities is eating too much fatty meats such as fatty cuts of beef, bacon, sausage and high-fat luncheon meats can be “wack for your wood.” Most chaps know that saturated fat and cholesterol restrict the arteries that sustain the heart and increase risk for heart attacks and cardiovascular disease. However, they also obstruct the arteries that transport blood into the penis, which can cause erectile dysfunction for those micro arteries will be the first to clog up from plaque.

Research has discovered that as a guy’s cholesterol increased, so did his chances of suffering from ED. Men with cholesterol counts above 240 were almost twice as likely to have erection problems compared to those with levels below 180. High cholesterol levels over extended periods of time never has a positive impact on health, but one single high-fat spread can threaten a man’s function instantly. Something that’s not good for a spur of a minute intimate romp. The outcome lets say at least could be quite disappointing. 😦

And remember folks……..cholesterol is only found in animal-based food sources – Meat, eggs, and dairy. FML!!!!!!!! Soooooooooooo yeah, cheese is just as bad and some people aren’t aware of it. In fact the worst combination is to mix meat, milk, and cheese. So remember my 340 + lb. male friend from above? He had a bacon double cheeseburger with fries, and large coke, and a large shake! Wowza! A NOM-fest like that is laden-full of saturated fat, and eventually with time, can and more than likely will hinder blood flow into the penis, leaving it flaccid and limp. Sorry boyz 😦

But the deflation culprits of your forever attached counterpart does not just stop with meat, eggs, and dairy. We are looking at white and processed foods and trans-fats – found mainly in foods like margarine and in a wide variety of crackers, cookies, chips and fried fast foods. Trans-fats are far worse than saturated fat……….Why? Because it basically is hydrogenated vegetable oil (hydrogen added to vegetable oil) which makes the item turn from a liquid to a solid at room temperature. So in other words think of hard margarines leading to harder arteries, and furthermore, a limp noodle.

So lets start focusing on foods that help you keep hard. YAY!

“Most men intuitively know that vegetables are ‘anti-cancer,’ but not as many know them as ’pro-boner.’”

– Dr. Aaron Spitz, author of “The Penis Book”

Foods that help increase libido and help with sexual health are foods that are nutritious, do not hold tons of saturated fats and trans-fats, aren’t high in sugar, and aren’t loaded with salt and really all the things that we know are probably not the best for us anyways. Plant-based nutrition again plays a positive part in the sexual drive for men. So if you want to perform well than you better start eating well. Nuts, spices and herbs, vegetables, fruits, plant-based proteins, whole grains, etc. However, if you want to get specific some websites list specific foods such as arugula, chili peppers, garlic, avocados, cacao, bananas, pomegranate, chia seeds, oatmeal with vitamin D, strawberries, watermelon, apples, pumpkin seeds, and tomatoes. But I’m confident in saying that if you incorporated these foods into a well-balanced plant-based diet – you could be on your way to better health and more bang for your buck. (Does that sound wrong?) :-/

Anyways, to summarize this post with more research data eating just one plant-based meal can have positive results on sexual performance. The health documentary called “The Game Changers” demonstrated several athletes recording better erections after going plant-based for the night. The athletes were measured at night how frequent and hard their erections were after following a night of plant-based eating only. Then they do the same thing on a different night but this time they followed a meat-based meal and were measured again. What was discovered was that the athletes had 300-500% more frequent erections that were 10-15% harder after just one plant-based meal.

Veganism is becoming one of the most popular trends in the food world, which bodes well for The Game Changers, a documentary exec produced by James Cameron about how plant-based diets can improve physical performance. gamechangersmovie.com
